Body Time’s essential oils are earth friendly, sustainably produced, aromatic plant essences extracted through a steam, a water or a steam and water distillation process of the plant’s leaves, flowers, seeds, stems, bark or roots. Although called essential oils, in fact they are not oils at all, but are evaporative substances more like alcohols and other distilled spirits. Fragrant and mildly antiseptic hydrosols are a by-product of this process and are used in aromatherapy skin care for their rehydrating, toning and cooling effects. It takes at least 50 pounds of plant material to produce one pound of essential oil. This proportion may vary a great deal; for example, it takes one ton of orange blossoms to produce just one quart of Neroli Essential Oil!
Body Time’s pure essential oils contain natural vitamins, antioxidants, antibiotics and antiseptics that deliver positive, therapeutic benefits to relax, calm, soothe, revitalize and refresh both the body and the psyche.
We package our highly concentrated essential oils in brown glass to help maintain their therapeutic properties. With the exceptions of citrus and pine, pure essential oils can last several years if kept tightly capped and stored in a cool, dark place.
Please use wisely:
- Always dilute oils to avoid skin irritations.
- Keep away from eyes and mucus membranes.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- If using on children, reduce essential oil concentration by at least half.
- Pregnant women should research essential oils prior to use or better yet, check with your physician.
- Citrus oils accelerate sunburn or skin redness during exposure to the sun.
Some of the most popular ways to administer our pure aromatherapy essential oils include:
Inhalations & facial steams: Add 3-5 drops of essential oils to a bowl of steaming water. Create a tent over your head with a towel and, with eyes closed, inhale the aromatic vapors.
In the bath: Add 12-15 drops of essential oils directly into full tub of bath water. Stir well to distribute evenly or use 2-4 drops of essential oils per ounce of bath oil, bath salts, bubble bath or body shampoo. We recommend against using citrus, clove or peppermint oils in the bath as they may be irritating.
Massage, facial & body oils: Add 3-5 drops of essential oils per ounce of carrier oil. For massage and body oils, try either our Sweet Almond Oil or our Body & Bath Oil. We recommend either our Jojoba Oil or our Vitamin E Oil for facial use.
For natural perfume: Create your own natural perfume oil with your favorite essential oils, 1/4 oz. of pure Jojoba Oil and an empty 1/3 oz. Roll-On Bottle. Pour almost entire bottle of Jojoba Oil into Roll-On Bottle; add approximately 25-30 drops of essential oils, cap and shake. Test on wrist and adjust as needed. Reapply your natural perfume creation as desired as essential oils evaporate off the skin quicker than other perfumes.
Our Pure Essential Oils come in convenient 5-ml (1/6 fl. oz.) dropper bottles, except those marked with an asterisk, which come in 1-ml (1/30 fl. oz.) dropper bottles.
